Our Story
Rooted in African American Wellness
At ZaRah, we hold steadfast to the belief in the profound influence of culture, wellness, and economics as pivotal pillars for happiness that nurtures individuals toward a fulfilling life.
Our passion for holistic wellness began in 2018 with three African American women business owners at the 1200 West Broadway Ave. building in North Minneapolis. This quickly evolved into an incubator for more of these practitioners. From 2019–2020, wellness workshops around chakra, Reiki, healing crystals, and Himalayan salt healing made it evident that there was a need and a growing desire for these practices within the community.
Recognizing the gap in access to holistic wellness within the African American community, Kenya McKnight Ahad then founded ZaRah in 2021, and acquired the building in which this holistic wellness practice began three years ago. Since then, ZaRah’s goal has been to enrich this community by providing access to integrative wellness services, while continuing to elevate African American business owners in the community.
